Aga Khan Nursery Mombasa tops in KMF performance among ECD Schools in Kenya
Tears of joy were shed by teachers, students and parents as the Aga Khan Nursery celebrated the winning award for being the best ECD School in the country, in the in 93rd Kenya Music Festival.
This was the second year the Aga Khan Nursery school has participated in the Kenya Music Festival. “We are so proud of this great achievement” said the Music Teacher, Mrs Janet Koki.
“Last year 2018 only two of our students were able to qualify for the Nationals with two items. However, this year 2019, 44 leaners were able to showcase their talents in elocution, music and dance in 9 Items.”
Mrs Mina Gokrani, the Nursery Head went on to say “Learners were enthusiastic and looked forward to showing off their growing talents in and outside the school, with continued support and encouragement from their music teacher Mrs Kobi. Students confidently presented various items such as poems, shairi, solo and group songs, piano pieces, and recorder pieces with the exciting results of 8 items qualifying for the county-level competition”.
Aga Khan Nursery students achieved as follows: Solo song by 2 participants Aiza Waheed and Precious Oduor being 1st and 3rd respectively; Piano forte beginners by Precious Oduor, T’sehai Grosvenor and Maya Denise being 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively; recorder piece (Peremende) by T’sehai Grosvenor and Aiza Waheed positions 2nd and 3rd respectively; Shairi solo by Hadassa Mwabili and group poem became 3rd and 5th respectively; choir of 24 participants each Rainbow colour song and own composition theme CBC attained 2nd and 1st respectively. Out the 7 items at county level 6 proceeded to the regionals and 5 to the Nationals. Despite the stiff competition at Nationals the talented Aga Khan Nursery participants put in a lot of effort and emerged the best Kenya wide in the xx category.
Mrs Gokrani enthused, “We appreciate the selfless commitment from the children, parents and the whole school fraternity for a job well done. This makes us proud”.
