School building inaugurated at the Diamond Jubilee High School, Immit
A new school building was inaugurated on 29 November at the Diamond Jubilee High School, Immit, which is located in the Ghizer District of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The inauguration was attended by the President of the Ismaili National Council for Pakistan Mr Hafiz Sherali, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, the President of the Regional Council Mr Dadu Sabir, the President of the Local Council Mr Ali Madad Khan and other members of the Aga Khan Development Network. The CEO of the Aga Khan Education Service (AKES), Pakistan Mr Imtiaz Momin and AKES, Pakistan’s General Manager Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral Brigadier (retd.) Khush Muhammad Khan welcomed guests, school management, teachers and students to the ceremony.
The new infrastructure will increase access to 100 students and consists of classrooms, modern science and ICT laboratories and a library, further enhancing the school’s overall infrastructure and teaching and learning environment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Sherali stressed that society cannot progress without high-quality education across the board. He also encouraged the students to continue focusing on their academic goals by taking advantage of this new building that will empower them to develop different skills and participate in co-curricular activities.
This new building is one of the many infrastructure projects occurring across AKES, Pakistan that will continue into 2023, ensuring access to quality education is achieved.
