The donation was part of a food drive the school organised in October for World Food Day and to raise awareness of how millions of people around the world lack access to healthy and nutritious food. Numerous items were donated by parents, such as 30 kilograms of rice, 20 litres of cooking oil, 40 packets of sanitary pads, 10 boxes of milk and much more.

“The learning outcome for our children from this community service initiative was to understand the importance of having a healthy diet and that sharing is caring,” said Headteacher of AKNS, Mombasa Elizabeth Adhuno. “The students understood ways to show empathy through understanding different living conditions.”
