More than 10 students from the Aga Khan Nursery School, Mombasa and the Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu participated in the 94th Kenya Music Festival from 17-18 September 2022.
Out of the students that participated in the event, five came in first place within their category. This programme is an initiative by Kenya's Ministry of Education that promotes children's music and drama talents.
Headteacher for the Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu Kerry Ouma was impressed with the students and their incredible performances.
"Our schools are built upon the solid culture of nurturing an all-rounded learner," Kerry said. "We are a multicultural community that appreciates our diversity, even in talents. To this end, we are proud that our students not only represented the school but also the lake region in the Kenya National Music Festival, taking top slots in five entries in playing modern instruments such as the violin, piano and recorders."
In addition to the students coming in first place, two students came in third, three came fourth and one came in fifth place.
