The objective of the fair, which was attended by AKL ECD students and parents, was to use recyclable crafting materials from the outdoors such as colourful leaves, twigs, pinecones, stones and more to learn what the fall season is all about. This activity promotes the students’ physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills, helps them develop an appreciation of the environment and an understanding of the passage of time and changes in nature, and encourages the involvement of the students’ parents.

“A great team consisting of children, teachers and parents were encouraged to come together to manipulate and create crafts using a variety of materials,” said Farangis Mardonova, the regional coordinator of the ECD programme for the Aga Khan Education Service, Tajikistan. “This collaboration enables us to build relationships with the children’s parents and create an optimal learning environment for our young students, both at home and at their ECD centre.”
