The athletic legacy of the Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai

A new generation of athletes are emerging at the Diamond Jubilee High School (DJHS), Mumbai. This can be seen with the students actively participating and excelling in the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) National Sports & Games, which took place between September and November 2023 in numerous cities across India.

DJHS, Mumbai students performed exceptionally well in the fields of kho kho, kabaddi, table tennis and archery. Grade 7 student Veera Mayekar, an outstanding kho kho player, achieved excellence at the national level and earned a spot in the prestigious School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Grade 10 student Mugdha Desai, with remarkable achievements in kabaddi and table tennis, also secured a position in SGFI, highlighting the diverse talent and versatility present among the youth in the field of sports. Additionally, Grade 10 student Shubham Ingale demonstrated his kho kho prowess in Jharkhand, with a distinctive combination of skill and determination. 

Embarking on the path of archery, Mufaddal Kapasi and Rayyan Ansari from Grade 10 and Murtaza Kapasi from Grade 6 showcased their skills in the sport. Their accomplishments not only highlighted their personal excellence, but also added to the enduring legacy of precision and skill in this specific sport. Grade 9 student Shourya Dhuri also secured second place for kabaddi in West Bengal with determination. 

In the domain of kabaddi, Grade 9 student Shourya Dhuri secured second place in the sport over in West Bengal with determination. Shubhankar Retharekar from Grade 9, Zaina Shaikh from Grade 8 and Afreen Mondal and Siya Bhagat from Grade 7 also stood out as distinguished players, showcasing their skills in West Bengal and Kolkata. These players not only represented their individual achievements but also embodied the spirit of sportsmanship and dedication. 

Continuing its tradition of excellence, the Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai aspires to provide its students with more opportunities to display their talents both inside and outside the classroom.
