EdTech refers to the usage of technology, particularly digital tools and resources, to enhance teaching and learning experiences. It encompasses a wide range of technologies and applications, including educational software, online learning platforms, digital textbooks, educational apps, virtual reality simulations and more.

AKES, India schools leverage EdTech through mobile technology labs, which are equipped with laptops for each student to use. During various phases of instruction – be it the introduction, brainstorming, ideation or closure of a lesson – students utilise the laptops for explorative learning. This approach not only increases student engagement but also promotes inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to benefit from digital learning resources.

With the integration of EdTech, teachers can create individualised assignments catering to the unique learning needs of each student. Through platforms like Google Classroom, students can work at their own pace and receive timely feedback, fostering a more self-directed and personalised learning experience. Moreover, students are able to collaborate with their peers more easily as they work on objective-based tasks and activities under the guidance of their teachers.

AKES, India schools are also expanding their lesson plans to incorporate more multimedia resources, allowing students to actively participate in creating impactful presentations. Tools such as Mentimeter, Quizlet, Nearpod and ProProfs are used to create gamified quizzes that align with curricular concepts, enabling students to assess their understanding in real-time. Audio clips are also utilised in teachers’ lesson plans, which are played for the students and followed by a discussion to ensure the material has been understood. This is done to enhance the students’ listening skills and to support auditory learners.

At the Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai, the introduction of virtual reality labs have provided students with immersive learning experiences. These labs offer interactive simulations in subjects like mathematics and science, allowing students to manipulate variables in real-time. This hands-on approach ignites curiosity and fosters a deeper understanding of complex concepts.

The Aga Khan Education Service, India’s systematic integration of technology aligns with contemporary educational objectives, reshaping the educational landscape and creating a dynamic learning environment around the schools. The institution looks forward to providing its students and staff members with more opportunities in relation to EdTech.
