Throughout both sessions the counsellor initiated a discussion on adolescence, explaining the physical and psychological changes that occur during this stage of life. The importance of personal hygiene was also emphasised, highlighting the significance of maintaining cleanliness for one’s overall health and well-being. Topics included daily hygiene, dental care, hair care and the responsible use of cosmetics. Students were also encouraged to ask questions at the end of the sessions to address any queries or concerns.

In the session for female students, a significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to menstrual health education, which included debunking common beliefs and misconceptions. The counsellor explained the signs and symptoms of menstruation and managing any associated discomfort. The proper usage and disposal of sanitary products were also discussed, along with how to foster positive body image and self-acceptance.

“This session was highly informative and beneficial,” said Pooja Minj, a Grade 9 student. “It made us aware of the changes we might undergo during adolescence.”

During the session for male students, the primary focus of the discussion was on addiction to substances and gadgets, how these habits develop and how they can impact one’s lifestyle. The influence of peer pressure was also discussed, along with how a lack of self-control can affect a person’s behaviour. Throughout the session, students were encouraged to openly discuss the challenges they face in their daily lives.

"The session helped us understand the reasons behind the development of many habits in today’s youth,” said Avinash Singh, a Grade 11 student. “We are often perceived as troublemakers, but few understand our mental health."

The Aga Khan School, Mundra is committed to equipping students with the essential knowledge and skills to face the challenges of adolescence and emerge as responsible, self-assured and health-conscious young adults.
