Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School, Dar es Salaam hosts Sports Day
From 23-27 January, the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School (AKMSS), Dar es Salaam hosted its first sports day since COVID-19.
This fun-filled day encourages students to have fun, be active and promotes teamwork amongst the students as they play through various games and challenges. This year’s event was attended by Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) Chief Executive Officer Almas Kasongo, who gave a speech advising the students to be active in sports.
During the event, the students and staff were divided into four teams or “Houses” – Ruvuma, Rufiji, Kagera and Pangani – and they all participated in football, volleyball and basketball games. The best teams were awarded medals, trophies and certificates at the end of the event, with Rufiji House winning as the best team.
“Sports day was an amazing, fun and exciting day,” said Grade 11 student Emmy Tirane. “As the senior House captain of the Pangani House, I was able to collaborate with all the amazing people in Pangani, and this allowed us all to work together as a team.”
AKMSS, Dar es Salaam would like to thank all the parents who came to support their children, along with the school’s faculty and staff, for organising the event.
