Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School, Dar es Salaam celebrates its Form 4 Class of 2023
On 1 December 2023, the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School (AKMSS), Dar es Salaam held a graduation ceremony for its Form 4 students from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) curriculum.
The ceremony hall was adorned with vibrant colours and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of the stars of the day. When the graduates finally entered, the room erupted with cheers. With grace, they took their seats, basking in the admiration from all around.
The attendees, including teachers, parents, relatives and friends, who may not have shared the same classrooms or experienced the nervousness of examinations, felt the collective victory. They played a crucial role behind the scenes, making the graduates' journey possible and less stressful.
“Discovering your desires requires seizing every opportunity to identify what you seek,” said Ms Happiness Constatine, head of school (NECTA) in her graduation speech. “Once satisfied that your aspirations align with your true desires, persist until you attain them. Embrace the journey, recognising that it may differ from others; success might come swiftly or take time – trust the process.”
The event comprised of the skilled choir from AKMSS, Dar es Salaam presenting the national anthem and leading the school prayer. Additionally, there were cultural performances, recitations of poems and songs, and various speeches.
“Do not ignore any idea that you have, even the Baobab tree started as tender and small as spinach,” said Ms Dolorosa Duncan, country director of m-mama, who was the chief guest. “Basic concepts should not be disregarded; they possess the potential to expand and influence extensive communities.”
After the speeches, the students were presented with their certificates. Each graduate anxiously awaited the mention of their name, and the moment brought surprise and joy. Holding their certificates, they captured the historic moment with unforgettable smiles and photos.
Hayget Menda, one of the graduates, expressed that the time spent at AKMSS, Dar es Salaam was a remarkable and transformative experience that significantly influenced the person she has become. She conveyed deep gratitude for the abundant support and guidance received during her time at the school. Despite the sadness associated with leaving, she emphasised cherishing the enduring memories and valuable experiences gained at AKMSS, Dar es Salaam.
As they held their hats, reflecting on their journey since entering AKMSS, Dar es Salaam in 2019, the graduates marvelled at the four years of fun, hard work, perseverance, friendship-building and networking.
“Transitioning to a new phase is consistently thrilling, particularly when there's a chance to achieve great heights,” said Hamza Sudi. “Despite the sorrow associated with farewells, I acknowledge that bidding goodbye is a crucial step.”
The Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School, Dar es Salaam congratulates all its graduates and wishes them the best of luck in all their future endeavours.
