On 23rd of April, Aga Khan Mzizima sent 23 students along with the MUN Director Ms. Hetal Chandaria to participate in the 6th annual DARMUN conference hosted by IST. This was the largest DARMUN to date hosting more than 200 delegates. The event was held at the Double Tree, Hilton Hotel.

The event was opened by the co-Secretary Generals, and included a speech from a keynote speaker from the UNDP. After the speech, delegates moved to their respective rooms to begin the time-tested process of lobbying and debating.

This year DARMUN had 5 committees, which included a Human Rights Committee, Environment Committee, ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) Committee which involves economics, General Assembly and Security Council. Mzizima Secondary School students were placed within every committee and represented countries such as the UAE in ECOSOC, Israel in Human Rights, and the USA and China in the Security Council. Two AKMSS students were also selected as chairpersons: Zahra Tejani in Environment Commission and Shriya Agrawal in the Human Rights Commission.

The debate ran for a whole day and the Mzizima Secondary School delegates debated efficiently and exceeded expectations. For many, this was their first MUN (Model United Nations) conference after months of preparation.
