The Aga Khan Schools in Uganda

Prostate Cancer Awareness by the Aga Khan High School IBDP Students

18 October 2017

On Saturday, 14th October, 2017, the IBDP CAS students organized a cancer run for the Kakajjo community, a neighboring slum area in Kampala.

The cancer run took place along Gadafi road from the Aga Khan School, past the Law Development Center (LDC) off to Kyadondo and then back to the Aga Khan School’s parking lot.

This event aimed at creating awareness for prostate cancer, informing the community that it can be cured if detected early. However, due to lack of information and delayed medical attention, prostate cancer can become a life threatening.  Health professionals made a presentation on the causes, symptoms, prevention and curative measures.

We are grateful to the organizations that partnered with the students such as Graphic systems, NTV, Orient Bank and Aga Khan University to make the event very successful.
