Teaching and Learning

Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)
Aga Khan School, Sidhpur (AKSS) has an Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), a Central Government of India initiative to encourage scientific thinking, innovation and creativity among students. In the ATL, students explore and experiment with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) concepts through electronic equipment and coding. Students are given hands-on experience working with basic electronics, such as Arduino boards and electronic circuits, 3D printers, laser engravers and fundamental mechanical tools and kits. AKSS students have created several prototype electronic circuits using sensors, as well as touch sensor alarms, touch sensor water dispensers and mobile controlled robots, to name just a few.

The annual Carnival offers a technology-driven platform for students to demonstrate and showcase their technical know-how and modern science projects. The ATL lab has proved to be a focal point of imparting balanced and advanced curriculum education to students to enable their educational development and skillsets.

School Library
AKSS has a well-maintained library and has a vast collection of books and periodicals. The library also subscribes to numerous national and international periodicals, journals and newspapers. Students are encouraged to spend time in the library during their breaks and free periods. The librarian, along with teachers, conducts various language development activities to enhance students’ vocabulary and comprehension. The library is an integral part of the cultural and social life at school, where students and staff read, participate in cultural activities and access information. AKSS also has a small library in each of the Pre-Primary classrooms.

Science Laboratories
AKSS has a well-equipped science laboratory for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Science teachers, along with the laboratory assistant, plan various demonstrations and experiments to ignite students’ curiosity and interest. Students are taught to handle complex lab equipment to enable them to conduct experiments under the supervision of trained teachers.

Mathematics Laboratory
The Mathematics laboratory at AKSS is equipped with Jodo Gyan Kits and study material from Navnirmiti. It provides concrete, hands-on learning experiences in Mathematics for students.

The Teacher Resource Centre
The combined Teacher Resource Centre (TRC) and Staff Room is a large, well-equipped, air-conditioned room with internet connectivity, and is equipped with computers and teaching resources, as well as a projector and screen. It is used for weekly coordination meetings, training programmes and lectures for and by the teachers.

Digital Infrastructure

Computer Laboratory
AKSS has a laboratory to encourage students to advance their computer skills under the guidance of an experienced mentor. All computers are equipped with updated software and advanced technical aids to learn programming.

Audio Visual Room
In addition to the computer laboratory, AKSS has dedicated rooms equipped with audio visual aids. Teachers have additional access to portable DLPs and audio-visual (AV) systems that can be taken from one classroom to another.

Digital Library
AKSS has a digital library facility for students to access hand-picked books online and read in their own time.

TENO
TENO is an online portal that is available 24 hours a day, keeping parents up to date on their children’s activities and progress and connected to teachers.

Google Classroom
Google Classroom helps teachers and students stay connected even when students are not in school. Teachers are also able to efficiently manage and assess progress.

Health and Wellness

Wellness Room
AKSS has a well-equipped wellness room to take care of any medical emergencies. The wellness room is equipped with a first-aid kit and is monitored by designated staff. AKSS also conducts regular first aid training programmes for teachers and support staff.

Sports, Art and Performance

Sport Facilities
AKSS has a well-maintained modern sports facility promoting outdoor sports activities. Sports such as volleyball, football, cricket, kabbadi, hockey, athletics, badminton, carrom and chess are practised to enhance students’ physical, cognitive and social skills.

Art and Crafts Room
The Art and Crafts Room is a special place for creative minds and art lovers. Here students explore their creativity and self-expression, reflecting diverse human emotions, individual styles and techniques. It is a vibrant space loved by every student and teacher.

Performing Arts Room
The Performing Arts Room is a separate, spacious dance room where students are trained in various dance forms. It is well equipped with necessary technical instruments.

Amphitheatre
The school has its very own Roman-style, open air amphitheatre to showcase the arts. The amphitheatre is used for entertainment, performances and sports activities.

Meetings and Recreation

Multipurpose Hall
The spacious, air-conditioned meeting hall is used for large group meetings, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings, teacher training, school functions, indoor sports, games and board exams. It is equipped with a fixed projector screen and sound system.
