This week in India, Mid-Day news presented Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai (DJHSM) with an Excellence in National School Curriculum award.
Mid-Day is a morning daily newspaper which is well received by a large population of the country. Every year, Mid-Day recognises various educational institutions for best practices that focus on the overall development of children. Academic performance and external board exam results in only one parameter, while the others include co-curricular activities such as participation in inter-school sports tournaments, cultural competitions as well as national or international exposure.
DJHSM has consistently received 100% result in grade X board exams over the last five years, with all students scoring above 60% for last two years. The school exposes students to inter-school events and encourages them to take part in innovative leadership programmes, such as Seeds of Peace and the Andover Bread Loaf Conference.
All such initiatives by the school are recognised by Mid-Day with this Excellence in Education Award in the category of National Curriculum Schools from South Mumbai. This award celebrates DJHSM’s effort to guide students as future leaders in the face of a changing global environment.
“The competition around the globe today is immense. Nevertheless, we need to be mindful that each child has interest, ability and proficiency, which may be unique in their own ways. As an educational organisation, we attempt to nurture these capabilities,” says Nutan Iyer, Principal of Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai.
