Students embark on USA Exchange Programme

20 April 2018

This August 2018, Sajid and Muzamil will embark on an enriching experience as they journey to the USA on scholarship for the YES study exchange programme.

Two students of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (AKHSS) Chitral, Sajid Muhammad Khan of Grade 10 and Muzamil Umar of Grade 9 successfully gained admission to the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Programme (YES) 2018-19.

The application for the YES Programme is a rigorous and merit-based process. A total 32 students from AKHSS Chitral submitted their applications, 12 were shortlisted, and the final two were chosen. To support students in these applications, AKHSS Chitral conducted preparatory sessions which included reviews of past applications, practice tests and performance in mock-interviews. Even after the finalists were selected, the successful candidates were given additional assignment to be completed on a monthly basis until their departure to the U.S.

AKES, P congratulates Sajid and Muzamil for their achievement. We will them best of luck this August for as they begin their exchange programme.

Sajid Muhammad Khan is born in the remote village Morder of Upper Chitral. He lives with his mother and four more siblings and is the eldest son of his family.

“I am very happy and excited to be a YES Scholar. A great exchange event to understand the culture of a diverse country. I am also thankful to my school and my teachers, who helped me a lot all the way to this stage.”

Muzamil Umar is born in Village Lone of Upper Chitral. He lives in Chitral town with his Mother and two younger siblings.
