Aga Khan School, Mundra's Raksha Bandhan tribute to community guardians
Raksha Bandhan is a revered Indian festival celebrating the bond between siblings. This cherished occasion sees sisters tying vibrant threads, or Rakhis, around their brothers’ wrists, signifying an unbreakable bond of affection, as well as a commitment to protection.
The essence of the festival finds a parallel in the dedication of real-life heroes, police personnel and home guards, who tirelessly ensure everyone’s safety day and night. Thus, the students at the Aga Khan School (AKS), Mundra wanted to recognise their outstanding service.
On 29 August 2023, students from Upper Kindergarten to Class 2 at AKS, Mundra visited local police stations and home guard units to adorn the wrists of police officers and home guards with Rakhis, thereby recognising the tireless commitment of these personnel. The students symbolically acknowledged the protective mantle these individuals wrap around the community. Accompanied not only by Rakhis but also by an overwhelming sense of respect and admiration, these students brought their heartfelt sentiments to these vital community guardians.
The officers were deeply moved by this unexpected display of fondness as it served as a poignant reminder of their unwavering commitment and sacrifices.
"The kind gesture from AKS, Mundra students was heartwarming,” Officer Valay Vaidya said. “This action shows unity and a connection between our community and these upcoming leaders. AKS, Mundra's effort is really praiseworthy. The Mundra Police Station team sincerely thanks them for this sweet gesture."
